Hello! It’s Coco here, Product & Marketing Lead at BINIBINI NEW YORK checking in with a new blog post discussing our experience during the most exciting event in the fashion industry!
Weekends are never dull in New York, but this time the streets were filled with different shades of color, with everyone's creative spirits gracing the streets as they headed to their respective shows. This weekend is New York Fashion Week, one of the most anticipated events not just in America but also throughout the world.
For my Fashion Week debut, I took inspiration from Filipino traditional men's clothing, and developed a modern take on the 'barong tagalog'. A barong is a formal wear item made of pineapple fabric that is often worn by men in the Philippines. It has always been a tradition for Philippine fashion and accessories to make use of organic materials, just as our "Claudette Mini Handbag" adorned with Capiz shells- the perfect handbag to complete this delicate look!
With brands embracing the diversity of their models on the runway, it was a refreshing season for me, and I couldn't help but be thrilled to see different body types, looks, and hairstyles- all of which represent each design. It was a pleasure for our team to attend this season and view amazing pieces created by our fellow designers here in the city of New York. It's a great honor for us, and we are looking forward to next year's New York Fashion Week!
