Happy 4th of July: Fireworks Displays & Festive Recipes

Posted by Ely Mata on

In 2022, I had the unforgettable experience of watching Macy's Fourth of July fireworks from a river cruise. Seeing the brilliant display from the water was incredibly exciting and truly a once-in-a-lifetime event. Last year, we opted for a different celebration, spending the Fourth of July in the Bahamas. The resort we stayed at hosted a spectacular fireworks show to celebrate the occasion.

This year, Macy’s Fourth of July celebration will be at the Hudson River for the first time in over a decade, promising another unforgettable experience. Here’s everything you need to know about where to watch the fireworks and some delicious recipes to make your Fourth of July party a hit.

Fireworks Displays

Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks:
For the first time in over a decade, Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks will be launched from barges on the Hudson River. This 25-minute spectacle will start around 9:25 p.m. on Thursday and is expected to attract millions of spectators.

Best Viewing Spots:

  • Manhattan’s West Side: Anywhere along the West Side Highway between West 14th and West 34th Streets.
  • New Jersey Waterfront: Prime spots include Hoboken, Weehawken, and Jersey City.

Other notable fireworks displays will be taking place in various locations:

  • Staten Island
  • Coney Island
  • Westchester County
  • Jones Beach on Long Island

Based on my experience, several items are not permitted in the viewing area, including backpacks, electronic cigarettes, lawn chairs, and picnic blankets. Make sure to plan accordingly to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

If you prefer to watch the Fourth of July celebration from the comfort of your home, you can tune in to NBC or Peacock. Both will broadcast a special two-hour fireworks show starting at 8 p.m. This allows you to enjoy the spectacular display without the hassle of crowds or travel.
